We all had a big experience with klister today…and everyone made it through! Now, you have a ski drizzled in a sticky mess: here’s a helpful video from Boulder Nordic Sport that can help get that klister off your skis for your next classic ski. Below the klister video I have also included a video about cleaning standard kickwax off as well. Although they do not recommend using household cleaning solvents (they suggest a ski-specific wax remover) a little Goo-Gone or Pine Sol will do in a pinch!
It is definitely worth checking out all relevant videos in this series!
What a great showing at the MNC Duathlon yesterday! Congrats to all who participated, and thank you to everyone who helped at all levels.
A full recap with results can be found in a separate blog post HERE
Photos are rolling in, too: be sure to check the MNC Flickr account HERE

BKL TRAINING THIS WEEK
Tuesday 1/26 Skating at the Range. We will work on fun agility, and a local news crew will be on hand to do a segment on us! We’ll teach reporter Erin Coffiel how to skate ski and give her a chance to test her skills on our agility course. Should be fun!
Thursday 1/28 Classic at the Range. We will keep working on our classic skiing, and for those interested there will also be an option to try biathlon with smaller air rifles in the “Mini Blasters Biathlon” program (for kids 10 and older). If interested in this option, bring your skate gear along with your classic gear and check in with coach Silke when you arrive!
Saturday 1/31 Paintball Biathlon at Mountain Top! This is a very fun event that has been around for a while and keeps getting better. Coach Rosemary will be in Lake Placid for the Eastern Cup races, but Coach Jen will be there to help kids warm-up and learn the course. Be sure to get there in time to practice shooting the paintball rifle (9-11 AM). Find more info HERE
Coach Rosemary on the race course at the Duathlon…even the leaders get into the spirit!
Please read: MNC Carpool potential for Craftsbury Marathon this Saturday. Ben Gordesky is looking to arrange a carpool and can take one other member + skis…OR, if there are Masters with room to spare, contact Ben about setting something up! Phone: 802-355-3049
Congrats to all the MNC Masters who participated in both the White Mountain Classic in New Hampshire and the MNC Duathlon on Sunday!
MNC Masters racers Rick and Jim getting after it!
This week we will skate ski on Tuesday and classic ski on Thursday. Conditions may be rainy on Tuesday but we will work around it and tough it out if necessary…shouldn’t be an issue after the fall/early winter we survived through!
Tuesday 1/26: Skating; body positioning and balance with agility and speeds.
Wednesday 1/27: Toko/MNC wax clinic at Skirack – prep and wax for the Craftsbury Marathon!
Thursday 1/28: Classic; transitions both into and out of uphills, pacing and short quick interval prep for marathon racing.
This week’s video worth watching…the women’s 4x5km relay from Nove Mesto (Czech Republic). A great day for USA!
What a day for a ski race! Sun, blue skies, firm tracks and great competition…can’t ask for more. 146 competitors took to the trails at Craftsbury for this annual MNC event that has continued to grow! Check out the video edit below:
Photos from this event are still incoming. Be sure to visit the MNC Flikr album to see them all, and check back often for additions. Results are linked at the bottom of this post. Congrats to all the racers!
The morning was clear and bright, and captured on film by Tim Cobb’s drone hovering above the action!
The open racers took off first. The women’s race is just starting here, where Eliza battled a strong Dartmouth contingent
Numerous other MNC faces were spotted in the open event, such as Coach Rick (leading Jim Fredericks)…
Coach Rosemary…
and Coach Adam!
Will Solow makes a smooth move into the transition zone!

Eliza skiing fast and rounding the corner. Thanks to Gary Solow for many of these photos!
I (Adam) was waxing skis and running back and forth to the start area during the BKL races but was able to get a thorough amount of cheering in for the latter races of the day. Many MNC racers topped their respective age groups and, most importantly, everyone had a great time skiing their hearts out!

An update and refresher that the “Remind” app/texting system is a great way to keep up with any last-minute MNC changes. This simple service allows MNC coaches to send a notification via text to all members linked up with the system.
This program is totally free and is simple to join…just follow the links below to begin the process. Thanks!
