The Eastern HS Championship and U16 Championship qualifier race is THIS SUNDAY! The event is run by volunteers, with each team supporting through club members/parents taking part. If you are available on Sunday, please take a look at the form below and see if you may be interested in helping out. Mt. Top Paintball and Craftsbury BKL Race
Mt. Top Paintball
It was a big weekend for racing, not only for Juniors & Masters, but for BKL as well. Lots of kids went down to Mt. Top for the Annual Paintball Biathlon. Mirabelle, Oliver and Bella all skied the Lollipop race, while Odin skied the 1/2 race. We had two 3-4 skiers, Ansel and Liam and lots of 5/6’ers: Ripley, Kate, Tessa and Pippa. Mia and Taylor rounded out the group skiing in the 7/8 race. Nice job skiing and shooting today everyone!

Ripley Boyden had awesome shooting today, hitting 13 out of 15! A future biathlete?
Taylor Carlson won “sharp shooter of the day” hitting 14 out of 15 targets. His biathlon training really paid off today!
Kate Carlson wore her lucky relay socks and had the fastest ski time in her age group!
Craftsbury SuperBKL Classic Race!
We had three BKL kids ski the race at Craftsbury. A tricky wax day led Anders Lienieson to try out a pair of zeros from Coach Adam on the difficult, “almost the same as the Eastern Cup” course laid out for grades 7 & 8. Julia Cisz and Dylan Torrizo both had good results in the 5/6 race with Coach Rosemary’s concoction of klister and hardwax. It was Julia’s first race of the year! Dylan rallied to get to Craftsbury today after a hockey game. Great job to all these racers!

BKL Practice Week of 1/21- 1/26/2020
Tuesday: Everyone Classic
*If you have waxable skis, clean your kick zone before you come! We may be putting on klister today and we need a clean kick zone.
Here’s a video on how to clean your kick zone from TOKO: Cleaning the Gripzone You can use any scraper you have (a putty knife works well) and you can use a paper towel instead of “baseTex”. If you don’t have wax remover, don’t fret. Just scraping off the old wax will help.
Thursday: Skate
Sunday: Racers and MS Racers: Practice at RIKERT
Time: 1:30-3 pm Technique: Skate
Particulars- Everyone needs to buy their own trail pass, but if you have a season pass anywhere else, you can get a free reciprocal pass! Instead of focussing on technique today, we will focus on getting in some distance. We will go in search of the cabin and then find some wicked fun downhills!
It will be a busy day at Rikert- drive in and do a drop off of equipment and kids and then go park (you’ll most likely be parking across the road). In fact, you might want to carpool! Find Coach Rosemary at the MNC Tent (I’ll be helping wax for the Junior Qualifier in the morning). Email Rosemary to let her know you are coming so we don’t take off without you!
An Option: Craftsbury Marathon 16km BKL-either Saturday or Sunday
This is an opportunity for older BKLers who want to challenge themselves at going 16km and have a chaperone who can accompany them. You can choose Saturday’s Classic or Sunday’s Skate race. Registration is online at SKIREG and both the BKLer and the chaperone must register. There will be no MNC coaching at these races.
Keeping up with the races
It’s a busy busy weekend for all our members.
- On Friday Ava Thurston competes in the first race of the U18 Scandic Cup series in Falun, Sweden. You can find results for this series below:
If you’re interested in waking up at 3:40AM to see it live, we have heard that there’s video coverage here.
- Also on Friday many of our alums will compete in day 1 of the Supertour/UVM Carnival, featuring classic sprints. You can find results and live-timing for this below:
- On Saturday and Sunday our Juniors, Masters, and BKL skiers will compete in the Lost Nation Cup, which is a combined weekend of Supertour, EISA, and Eastern Cup racing along with BKL events too! You can also find those results on Bullitt Timing
- On Sunday the Zak Cup is at Jackson, NH for the White Mountain Classic. You can keep up-to-date with that race on NENSA!
Missing Wax Box 1/21
Missing a black wax box with a clear top and yellow handle went missing Tuesday January 21 after evening Masters (7:30PM). It was on a table close to the ladies bathroom door.
