Masters Winter Training

Program Description

Mansfield Nordic Club (MNC) offers a popular Masters program for adults with a variety of backgrounds and goals. We provide opportunities for all levels of skiers with an emphasis on camaraderie, fun, fitness and skill. Beginners, novices and intermediate skiers work in small groups to improve skills and get a good workout, while advanced skiers can take part in challenging workouts.

Coaching Groups

Our evening Tues/Thurs training sessions will be structured around multiple coaching groups to better provide individual instruction and challenge our athletes at every level.  So whether your goal is to race faster or focus on fundamentals, we plan to have a group for you.  Groups will be assigned by the coaches based on skier goals, fitness and skills levels. Groups may also change based on technique and may also be adjusted throughout the season as skiers progress.

Weekday Training (Tues/Thurs)

You may choose either the Early Weekday Session: 4:00-5:30pm or Late Weekday Session: 6:00pm -7:30 pm.

Where

Afternoon (4:00) Tomasi Meadow trails in Underhill

Evening (6:00) Camp Ethan Allen Training Site (“The Range”) in Jericho, or Sleepy Hollow if the Range is unavailable

Note that large-scale construction is slated for The Range in the winter of 2025/2026 and will likely mean Evening Masters Training will take place at Sleepy Hollow. Evening Masters can purchase a special MNC Masters pass through Sleepy Hollow in this instance.

When

December 9th through Mid-March (depending on snow conditions)

We alternate classic and skate depending on conditions. Masters coaches will publish weekly and daily updates on the Masters Training Google Doc in real time.

Afternoon sessions will have 1-2 groups, while evening sessions will be divided into ability-based groups, ranging from new-to-ski training, up through experienced racers; you can change groups at any time for more or less advanced coaching; you may be in one group for classic, another for skate.  For more information see our Masters Training FAQ

Training starts promptly, so plan to be on snow and meeting your group at the published start times.  We recommend arriving early if  you are new and need assistance or need time to prepare your classic wax for the day.
