Craftsbury Marathon Wax Update 1/31 PM

Craftsbury Marathon MNC Wax Headquarters (Cabin 3 Lower Soccer Field Parking Lot)

The MNC forward team has secured a wax cabin which will be the central location for meeting and pre-race waxing advice.  The wax cabin is located in the parking lot adjacent to the lower soccer field.

Our advance team has also been doing wax testing all afternoon to narrow down the options Adam previously posted in the blog.  Overall conditions will be relatively firm, fast with abrasive snow,  so we recommend the following options..

Binder:  Toko Green Klister Binder (spray or tube) or similar…

Klister:  Toko Red or other Violet Klister

Hardwax Cover: Final Recommendation tomorrow.

We have many skiers signed up, so if possible please try to apply the Binder and  Klister this evening.  Also, if someone has an extra wax bench it would be great add to our set up.

Overall, the weather and conditions are looking great.  Hope everyone is excited!

Cross Country Skiing in the Sud Tirol

Interested in cross country skiing in Europe?  Recently, we returned from a spectacular trip and wanted to share our experiences and express our thanks to  Lumi Experiences.  Lumi Experiences specializes in both self-guided and guided experiences to some of the world’s renown cross country destinations.

Lumi was founded by Garrott Kuzzy (Olympian, former US Ski team and former MNC Coach/BOD member).  We worked  with Garrott to design a self-guided 10-day cross country skiing vacation in Seefeld, Austria, and Seiser Alm, Italy.   Aside from flights, Lumi took care of everything,  including: lodging, ground transportation,  passes and personalized daily trail recommendations.    Lumi’s local knowledge and attention to detail made this an incredibly enjoyable and memorable experience.  A vacation we will cherish for a long time!

If you want more information or to plan your own experience you can contact Garrott at the following link:  Lumi Experiences.

Label Your Equipment!

With high school teams, MNC juniors, masters, biathletes and up to 90 BKLers all using the Range, it’s likely that someone else will have equipment that looks a lot like yours and that your equipment will get mistaken and taken home by someone else. The solution? Labels!! Here are some ideas:

If you rent:

Get some Painter’s tape or masking tape that is easily removable at the end of the season and label skis, boots and poles with your child’s name in permanent marker.

If you own:

*Permanent marker on masking tape works. Permanent marker on skis & boots works well too but is harder to remove.

*Mailing labels. Sometimes hard to read because of small sprint, but so easy!

*Decorative duct tape especially on poles will make your child’s equipment easily recognizable. We take off our poles and leave them all together a lot so it’s important that your child can recognize their own.

First-Ever MNC Trivia Night a Success

Thanks to everyone who came out for MNC Trivia Night on Friday. From a delicious dinner spread to a wacky and engaging trivia contest, this was a great way to bring so many members (and non-members!) together.

This event was spearheaded by Victoria Priganc and Maria Nolan, with some emcee skills provided by Dave Priganc. We owe a huge thanks to Cochran’s for use of their lodge…nothing makes it feel more like a skiing event than race bibs dangling from the ceiling, goggles and helmets on racks, and medals and awards from snowy competitions hanging left and right.

We raised over $1,300 toward the MNC Van. We’re so grateful for this support, as well as the support of our member donations through the Annual Fund and multiple sponsors such as:

Green Lantern Solar

Skirack

Evolution PT and Yoga

Kickzone Media

…and of course Toko!

Please be sure to consider these companies and locales for your solar, gear, yoga, and wax needs 🙂
