Masters Training 12/29 – 12/31 (UPDATE TUES 11AM)

Olympics

Note: Tuesday may feature unsafe weather for driving during our regular training hours. In the event of a cancellation, notifications will be made on the MNC blog, as well as the MNC Remind App.

Tuesday 12/29: Training cancelled due to hazardous roads and icy/slushy trails that can’t be groomed 🙁

Skiing IS available at Sleepy Hollow! Drive carefully.

Thursday 12/31: Pursuit-style session, a workout that is part SkiErg and part Bounding to get both upper- and lower-body working! Bring running gear and (optional) shorter bounding poles!

Looking for snow over the holidays?

It still looks like more dry land training is on the horizon in the valley, but there is skiing to be had nearby on manmade loops (Craftsbury and Rikert).  Also for those willing to venture toward Mt St Anne, the trails are beginning to open.

For those weather geeks who want to know when this dearth of winter will end, check out the Single Chair Weather Blog.  The short answer is not too soon, but the signs are at least starting to look favorable.

Masters Training 12/22

Above: Masters practice balance and coordination. Try not to get dizzy!

Still no consistent snowfall at our home training location (the Range). This week we will try to mix it up with some fun variety on Tuesday…it will definitely be interesting!

Tuesday 12/22: sNOlympics 2015. Various skill, balance, speed and endurance challenges set up in a rotating basis in and around the Walker Building. Bring a pair of shorter bounding poles if you have them!

Thursday 12/24: No practice…Happy Holidays!

Masters Training 12/15 – 12/17

Congrats to all the Masters who competed in the inaugural MNC SkiErg 500m Challenge! Times are posted right next to the Ergs and remember…if you arrive early there’s no hard in putting in some double poling time!

Beer and ski ties...for an event as brutal as a SkiErg race you just need some extrinsic motivation!

When the prizes are beers wrapped in Toko ski ties, you are sure to get a fierce competition!

World Cup-worthy podium shot!

Masters and Juniors training together at Dee PT: Karen and Sharon work on balance while Will and Eliza hit the SkiErg! It's not too late to join us Wednesday nights!

Training this week

12/15 – Dynamic warmup followed by continuous bounding intervals, choice of shorter course or longer course! Ending with balance drills and group core exercises.

12/17 – Alternating group skiwalking/running with poles and group circuits. This week we will change up circuits and structure them so that each exercise is done together by the group at the same time! There will also hopefully be some music!

12/19-20 – NENSA Eastern Cup Openers! Racing Masters might want to get some racing in with this high-level event…a chance to go head-to-head with Junior, Collegiate and other Masters racers!

MNC Masters Remind App!

Masters,

For up-to-the-minute changes and notifications, MNC will be starting to implement a tool called “Remind” this season.

This service allows teachers (or in this case coaches!) to send group messages to a class (or in this case a team!). Within our club framework, the “Remind” service will often be used for last-minute changes or updates to practice…think icy roads or changes in technique due to grooming difficulties.

Signing up is simple: you can visit THIS PAGE to see how to sign up for MNC “Remind” notifications.

If you have already signed up for our Masters programs, you should have just received an email detailing how to sign up directly.

We hope this allows smoother, more direct and more hassle-free communication about practices!
