BKL Update for Tuesday

We’ll be on foot for Tuesday’s practice doing some fun dryland activities and games! Penguins should wear warm snow boots, but all others should wear running sneakers with warm wicking socks (wool, synthetics- no cotton).  Bring boots and extra dry socks to change into after because our feet may get a little wet. Dress warmly but dress in layers! Everyone will start inside the Walker Building today.

Label Your Equipment!

With high school teams, MNC juniors, masters, biathletes and up to 90 BKLers all using the Range, it’s likely that someone else will have equipment that looks a lot like yours and that your equipment will get mistaken and taken home by someone else. The solution? Labels!! Here are some ideas:

If you rent:

Get some Painter’s tape or masking tape that is easily removable at the end of the season and label skis, boots and poles with your child’s name in permanent marker.

If you own:

*Permanent marker on masking tape works. Permanent marker on skis & boots works well too but is harder to remove.

*Mailing labels. Sometimes hard to read because of small sprint, but so easy!

*Decorative duct tape especially on poles will make your child’s equipment easily recognizable. We take off our poles and leave them all together a lot so it’s important that your child can recognize their own.

BKL Program Starts Dec. 3!

Get the kids’ skis dusted off and make sure those boots and poles fit because the snow is here early and BKL practice begins at the Range on Tuesday Dec. 3!  All groups should meet inside the Walker Building this first day. Kids will meet their coaches, we’ll do a few intro words and games and get out to ski if there is snow, or get out for some dryland & games in our sneakers if there is no snow. Check the website (BKL Weekly Training Schedule ) to confirm the technique (classic or skate) and practice plans.

Trivia Night Signup

What is the event?

The event is a dinner and goofy trivia night, with themes and questions designed for all ages and categories…not just skiing!

Where/When is the event?

The event is at the Cochran Ski Lodge, 910 Cochran Road, Richmond, VT. Dinner begins at 6pm, with trivia beginning at 7:30. MNC members will provide potluck appetizers and deserts, and the club will be grilling burgers and hot dogs.

The club will also be providing non-alcoholic drinks. The event is BYOB for alcoholic beverages, but there will be a keg of local beer available for a $4 donation to our van.

How can I participate?

We are asking MNC members to be a captain and form their own teams of six people that would be part of your goofy trivia team.  Ideally, each team of six would have some non-MNC members (eg. friends, family, etc.).  Each team member pays to participate.  Adults pay $20.00, children pay $10.00.  As the team captain, you collect money from your team and then register your team through the MNC website.  As a captain, you are also asked to come up with a theme for your team and represent that theme.  Prizes will be awarded to the team or teams with the best theme.  Prizes will also be awarded to the top trivia teams.

How should I market this event to my friends and family?

Ask your friends and family if they would be interested in participating in a fund raiser where they get dinner, music, and play goofy trivia as a team.  The goofy trivia is a team activity; it is not individual.  During goofy trivia, teams have time to discuss what they think is the correct answer and provide one answer that represents the entire team.  It should be a night of good food and good laughs.

How soon should I get my team registered?

We are asking all teams are registered by October 20th.

A signup form can be found HERE

See you at Cochrans!
