Tuesday we will classic ski. The weather forecast calls for warm temps so it will likely be klister. Bring no wax skis if you have them and clean bases if you need help klistering.
Thursday will be a skate ski costume day! Wear your wildest and craziest neon colors and we will take a group photo to send along with a good luck message to all of the MNC skiers who are racing at Junior Nationals in Alaska.
There are no team events planned for the weekend, but if you are around on Saturday, then you should think about heading over to Middlebury to watch the NCAA races. A link to all the event info is in a previous blog post.
Reminder about upcoming season end race events:
The NYSEF festival is March 16th/17th
The Grand Prix hosted by Frost Mountain is March 23rd/24th
About a dozen MNC BK kids and parents joined up with the Craftsbury BK group for a trip to Charley’s Cabin on a snowy day. While it was raining in Burlington, Craftsbury had a beautiful winter snow storm all day with several inches of powder on the un-groomed surfaces. The close ties between our clubs provides an excellent opportunity for kids from different parts of Vermont to ski together and make new friends. Thanks Crafstbury!

The NCAA championships are coming to Middlebury next week. This is a great opportunity to watch the best collegiate skiers in the country, and for BKL skiers, to check out the new race course before the Grand Prix.
The complete schedule of events can be found here:

The 15/20k mass start on Saturday will be a particularly fun one to watch!
High School skiers wrapped up their season over the past week with the State Championships events held over the course of 2 days. Last Thursday featured skate races at Craftsbury, while they raced classic events at Prospect yesterday. CVU showed their strength and depth to take the overall titles in both boys and gals D1.

BFP Day 2 Coverage and Results
MNC athletes were present on many teams from around the County, including CVU, MMU, Essex, BHS, Colchester, BFA-St. Albans and Harwood. Skiing for the State Champion CVU squad were: Forrest Hamilton, Emmett Peterson, Parker Francis, Sean Delaney, Charlie Maitland, Thomas Clayton and Sam Longenbach — all members of MNC!! Forrest won the individual title for D1 skate, and was 2nd in the classic. Nathanael Kuzio (Harwood/MNC) was 2nd in the state in the D2 skate, and 3rd in the classic. Rounding out the podium yesterday was Emmett Peterson in 3rd. Ethan John joined the aforementioned athletes in 13th overall D1 skate and climbed to 9th in the classic.
On the gals’ side, CVU won it all, featuring several MNC athletes as well. Autumn Eastman was 3rd in skate, followed by Cally Braun, Kayla Servin and Emma Hamilton (all CVU/MNC) and all in the top-15. Autumn claimed 3rd again in classic, while Cally and Emma moved up to 7th and 9th, respecitively.
While I am not certain, I believe nearly >90% of participants in the MNC summer program represented their high schools at the State Champs. I haven’t seen full results, but I know there were many other MNC skiers racing (Nigel Sarrazin, Jordan Lamay, Ethan Thibault of Colchester, Lucy Leith and Lukas Adamowicz of BHS, Leslie Robers of BFA-St.A, Tatum Braun of CVU). My apologies if I missed anyone, please let me know or add a comment.
MNC will host open training tomorrow (Thursday 2/28) as well as next Tuesday and THursday 3/5 and 3/7. All training will take place at the Range at 4pm.
