Range Closed For Season/Bonus Skiing Days

The winter started out slowly but finished with some of the best skiing in years. The ski trails at the range are closed for the spring but we may have some other ski outings lead by club members or coaches. (if you have a trip you want to lead or have others join you contact Rick or Tim and have it emailed to the club or posted on the blog)

Like this one – Tuesday April 1st.

Junior / BKL Photo Roundup

Last week was a lot of fun! We had a huge crew of people out jumping on Tuesday, then an exciting day of games and relays with the UVM Ski Team on Thursday. Thanks so much to UVM Coach Patrick Weaver and atheltes Cole Morgan, Jack Hegman, Rogan Brown, Maggie WIlliams, Madison, Marion Woods and Lukas Adamowicz for coming out and skiing with us!

Highlight of the day last Thursday was the relay races which teamed up BKL, Juniors and UVM skiers. Instead of a boring “tag” or handoff of a baton, we used the UVM jackets/vests as the “baton” and skiers had to exhange them in the tag zone. With a nice little jump and some sharp corners there was a lot of thrills and spills.

On Saturday a few of us went for an adventure tour up the Catamount Trail. Normally you’d expect crust skiing at this time of year but it was closer to powder — and still lots of snow!

Masters and BK This Week

Spring is here…. I don’t think so! Right now over the entire Northeast, we have some of THE BEST ski conditions we have seen in years. Take advantage of this opportunity enjoy skiing even though you may now be changing your focus to running or biking.

Our lease agreement with the National Guard carries us through the end of March so this is our last week of skiing at the range.  Although trail grooming has officially ended there is a chance that some of the Guard biathlon team may do some grooming.  If we get any new formation we will post it on the blog.

  • For now Masters can plan on skiing (any technique) on both Tuesday and Thursday at 6 pm.
  • BK will be at Bolton on Tuesday at 3:45 and early masters skiers are welcome to join us there.  Please email Rick if you are going to be there and bring $6 per head to cover the trail passes.
  • There will be no 3:30 Masters at the range on Tuesday.
  • More detail on the Tuesday BK practice is in the previous blog posting.

Thursday we will a offer 6 pm Masters as usual – grooming is still a question mark at this time.  This will also be the last EABC biathlon practice for the season.

Here are a sample of pics from Masters and BK skiing last week.  Look for a pics from the NYSEF Nordic Kids Festival tomorrow.

BK Recognition Ceremony and Ski at Bolton

STOP!  DON’T PUT AWAY YOUR SKIS JUST YET.

ALL MNC BK Skiers and Families are invited to one more special spring skiing day at the Bolton Valley Nordic Center.

Tuesday – 3/25 – BK Ski and Recognition Ceremony – Meet at 3:45 at the Bolton Valley Nordic Center and ski until 5 pm then inside for a RECOGNITION CEREMONY for all of our BK skiers.

PLEASE respond to Rick if you are going to be there – with the number of trail passes required for your family – so we can have them printed ahead of time. This will speed things up considerably, allowing us more time for fun on our skis. The Bolton Valley Management has graciously offered us the great price of $6 per head for use of the facilities.  We will pay with one check and the coaches will collect from the parents.

BRING

  •  SKATE SKIS
  • $6/skier for each trail pass
  • Lots of energy and smiles
This is our last official day of BK skiing but please check the blog and email for some special spring skiing adventures that may fit your schedule.
THANKS FOR A WONDERFUL SKI SEASON!

Here a few pics from Thursday ski practice.  Mostly games and then some fun and a relay with the UVM Nordic Team.  THANKS UVM!IMG_1966 IMG_1967 IMG_1968 IMG_1969 IMG_1970
