Masters LVRT Ride

The MNC Masters are out in force this season following up their  Thursday roller skiing session with a fun group ride on the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail.   The weather was fantastic and the winds were mostly favorable.  At the start riders split into groups but reconvened for some food and beverage at Lost Nation in order to fortify themselves for the 15 mile journey back.

Next week the group will be back to the dirt roads, so make sure to catch up with the latest on the Masters Training Doc  and join the #sunday-cycling Slack group.

Juniors In Action

It’s starting to feel like summer: we’re hitting drier trails, rollerskiing is feeling more comfortable, and we’ve made our first trip to the Range. This week included some running intervals at the excellent Cochran’s trails, some on-ski strength at the Range, and a visit to the Burt/Richter trails in Huntington on Saturday. This is an adventure we haven’t done in 2 years…a rollerski down Hollow Road in Huntington, a run up Camel’s Hump road, and then lunch at the Burt’s and some good old fashioned labor building bike trails in the woods! Thanks to the Burt and Richter families for hosting us on what turned out to be one of the nicest days of the summer so far.

Here is a photo from the unmistakable barn on the way into Huntington, followed by a video of some skate speeds by the crew.

Masters Summer Rollerski

Our summer of Masters rollerskiing has begun! Thanks to our stellar coach trio of Andy, Rick, and Liam we had all abilities covered: this is a rollerski group for ANYONE so be sure to check it out if you’re interested! We have several pairs of rollerskis for folks to try if they never have before.

After breaking into groups, newer rollerskiers worked on balance and coordination while experienced skiers took a trip into the hills of the neighborhood. Check out some photos and video!

Agility work!

Masters Intro Rollerskiing begins Thursday!

Join Coach Andy this Thursday for our first session for newer rollerskiers at Williston Central School. If you’re already a roller-crushin’ Master looking to get in a great session, this is also the place to be! Coach Liam and Coach Rick will lead more experienced skiers.

To get there: turn into Williston Central School via the Williston Library (off Rt 2). At the stop sign, take a right and drive to the very end of that parking area where you’ll see soccer fields, a gate, the bike path, and skatepark.

These sessions will run 8 weeks, so please don’t forget to register here.

Everything begins at 6PM! Below is a note from Coach Andy:

Welcome beginner (and novice) roller skiers!

A couple a quick thoughts as we approach our first adventure this Thursday, 6/13/19 at Williston Central School.
  • We’ll meet out back of the school, left rear parking lot at 6:00pm.
  • No experience required.
  • Please join us even if you don’t have any rollerskis yet and want to learn more about how to get started.   MNC may have some additional rollerskis for your use.
Bring: nordic ski boots, helmet, ski poles (skate/classic to match your ski type), running shoes, water, biking (or light gardening) gloves, roller skis (if you have them) and your adventuresome spirit!  Dress in athletic outerwear.   Longsleve shirt/jacket and pants are suggested.
