Register for the BKL Fest!

The New England BKL Fest is coming up on March 6 & 7 in Waterville, ME. If you have not registered yet, it is time to do so!  If you don’t have lodging, get lodging first to be sure you have a place. You should get a place for Friday and Saturday night. MNC will plan to meet on Friday at 3 pm at the Venue to ski the course. We will not do our traditional team dinner due to COVID precautions, but we will plan to do potluck lunches outside for Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday’s festival dinner will be a take-out. Saturday is the classic relay (I will make the relay teams, you do not need to find your own partner) and Sunday is the skate individual.

Nordic Adventure:  If your child is not interested in competing, they can sign up for the Nordic Adventure only. There are lots of on-ski activities to do beyond the races! It’s a ski festival!

Coach Rosemary and a number of other MNC coaches will be going to help wax skis, lead course previews, keep us well organized and lead the MNC charge!

A few notes we received from Skirack regarding our MNC discount:

We’ve been receiving a lot of orders through our website this season from Mansfield Club members looking to use their discounts on our website. The discounts that we offer to clubs are for in-store purchases. We also don’t offer free shipping with Team Pricing which is another thing that has been coming up.
This is the verbiage we currently have for the Mansfield discount:

We’ve seen a lot of orders recently from the MNC members on the website which is what is prompting this note.

How to watch the Olympics

The best athletes in the world in all the different winter sport disciplines come together once every four years to compete in the Olympics. We get to watch all these awesome winter sporting events that we don’t normally don’t see very often on regular TV.  It helps to know when to watch and how to watch so you don’t miss your favorite events. Notes for parents: Eastern Cup #3

A few key notes from the Team Captains Meeting for the Craftsbury Eastern Cups this weekend.

Specifically for Saturday’s interval start races, there are VERY strict control measures on skiing the course.

  • Athletes can ski the course, but must do so with their bibs on inside-out to denote their status as a racer
  • All skiing MUST be done in direction of travel
  • There is no group skiing allowed, since some warmups may be taking place during races happening on course. This includes coach-led tours of the course, or warming up in a “pack” of athletes.
  • Parents without a bib (aka parents who do not happen to be US Ski and Snowboard registered and credentialed coaches) may NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ski with athlete(s) on course for warmup. If this happens all of our club’s coaches will lose their coaching bibs for the entire weekend and it would make things extremely difficult. Exact wording for Saturday below:
