We’ve become quite fond of video content recently…with GoPro’s left and right these days, it is easier than ever to capture skiing in motion. In the past few weeks as racing has gotten intensely busy, others have stepped-up to capture all of the action. Below I’ll include some cool content from the past couple weeks.
First up is a vlog from our trip to Lake Placid for Eastern Cup #2. Kai produced a great vlog documenting the weekend from the “team trip” group and I think it captures a lot of the fun that happens beyond the racing itself. Although the racing is of course fast and epic!
Next, Craftsbury produced a series of quasi-documentary style videos for Eastern Cup #3 (also the UVM Carnival and Henchey Memorial Supertour). The first one features some MNC-specific content highlighting Ava’s awesome 3rd place, but you may spot other MNC racers throughout the videos. The first video from the sprint day is below, but it is a whole three-part series showcasing the top level of racing in New England…and maybe the country.
A few notes we received from Skirack regarding our MNC discount:
We’ve been receiving a lot of orders through our website this season from Mansfield Club members looking to use their discounts on our website. The discounts that we offer to clubs are for in-store purchases. We also don’t offer free shipping with Team Pricing which is another thing that has been coming up.
This is the verbiage we currently have for the Mansfield discount:
Mansfield Nordic Club members get team pricing on skis, rollerskis, boots, bindings & poles. 15% Off Skirack’s full price on nordic clothing, wax & bags. Discount does not apply to sale prices. 5% off Thule Boxes. EXCLUDES ONLINE ORDERS
15% off Nordic Ski/Binding Services
We’ve seen a lot of orders recently from the MNC members on the website which is what is prompting this note.
A few key notes from the Team Captains Meeting for the Craftsbury Eastern Cups this weekend.
Specifically for Saturday’s interval start races, there are VERY strict control measures on skiing the course.
Athletes can ski the course, but must do so with their bibs on inside-out to denote their status as a racer
All skiing MUST be done in direction of travel
There is no group skiing allowed, since some warmups may be taking place during races happening on course. This includes coach-led tours of the course, or warming up in a “pack” of athletes.
Parents without a bib (aka parents who do not happen to be US Ski and Snowboard registered and credentialed coaches) may NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ski with athlete(s) on course for warmup. If this happens all of our club’s coaches will lose their coaching bibs for the entire weekend and it would make things extremely difficult. Exact wording for Saturday below:
Remember, you can find the latest info on Masters training (technique, location, quick summary) at the Masters Training Doc! Even despite the cold we had some great sessions last week. Here is a clip of the Black Group working on a little hop skating technique.
Coming up this week we have a bit more cold weather, but we’re prepared (and acclimated) at this point. Of note, a few of the trails across the road leading to the alpine hill (did you know there was an alpine hill at the Range?) are groomed, and can be accessed by taking a left near the bottom of Pit loop. These trails are all natural snow and there are a few sticks here and there, but otherwise great conditions. Remember that these trails do not have lights, so headlamps are needed if you are venturing after dark.
