Wednesday (today) training CANCELLED. Thursday TBA

Hi all,

due to the rapidly deteriorating travel conditions I am cancelling training today at Sleepy Hollow.

Please stay tuned to the blog, the MNC Facebook page, or TXT message for updates tomorrow regarding Thursday afternoon training at the Range. If conditions get really bad overnight I may have to cancel Thursday as well.

Thanks and stay safe.

J2 Championship Photos

Thanks to Gary Solow for another awesome batch of photos from the New England J2 Championships last weekend at Rikert (Breadloaf) Ski Center. Many of our local MNC athletes played a role in Team Vermont winning the event over the Midwest, Mass, New York, Maine and New Hampshire!!

The full Picasa album has over 800 photos.

Congrats Vermont and MNC!

MNC Boys Ranked 3rd in the Country!

Based on the results of our boys racing at Junior Nationals last week, the MNC boys finished the season as the 3rd place club in the country! This was due to the success each of the boys had in their individual races at Trapp’s. The scoring system [world cup points] favors strength of results over having a large number of participants. Since our athletes all had top-6 performances, including two podiums from Forrest, they ranked really high in the nation!

Congratulations to Forrest, Henry and Ben, as well as all the other MNC athletes, coaches and parents that helped support them over the past several years. This kind of result is something that takes a lot of hard work over the course of many months and years.

Junior Training 3/10 – 3/18

[updated Tuesday 3/11 @ 10:45 am to reflect SKATE technique for training today]

Training plan for 3/10 – 3/16:

Tuesday = Recovery skate ski at the Range, 4:00-5:30.
Wednesday = Recovery skate ski at Sleepy Hollow. 4:00-5:30.
Thursday = Classic ski with relay practice at the Range. 4:00-5:30.
Sunday = TBA.

Also Upcoming:

Tuesday March 18 =Movement screening analysis 3:50-6:15pm at the Range. Please refer to 2/23 email from Dr. Sharon Henry. The screening will take approximately 20-30 minutes per athlete to complete.

*** Bonus training after March 18th will be highly weather dependent as the National Guard stops grooming the trails. Provided that we have snow (which looks very likely!) and athletes are still motivated to ski, we will likely have 2 bonus training sessions per week at various venues.
