Well…Tuesday might be all we get this week due to rainy weather. Yuck! We will try to push through to hold a session though, so get in skiing while you can!
Tuesday 3/8 Skating, with a focus on uphills of varying grade and length. Transitions, carrying speed and skiing with quick movements to float up hills!
Thursday 3/10 Stay tuned…not looking great given the forecast…

The madness is about to begin! It all kicks off with States this week, followed quickly by Junior Nationals. JNs overlap with the U16 Championships and BKL Festival, with Easterns on tap the following weekend. From there it is on to Spring Series/Distance Nationals.
There are surely big questions about the snow and whether it’ll survive. Some might also be questioning their fitness and racing shape…but don’t fret: unlike mother nature, training well leads to consistency that the weather just can’t match. MNC racers have been putting in work all year, and we are sure to see more than a few breakout performances, new personal-bests, victories, and top-5s. Now is a good time to bring back a visual of some goals the athletes put forth back in the fall:
As I shared months ago, these goals encompass all levels of racing. The Pugs are a diverse and exciting group, but everyone has definitely taken new steps to achieve their own goals and, in turn, spur the whole group to new heights. States, JNs, U16s, Easterns…all of these events will feature MNC skiers. Keep your eyes on those results as they roll in, and get ready for fast skiing.

Welcome to March, with the weather patterns of May and the precipitation of the Sahara! We will be skating on Tuesday and classic skiing on Thursday, hopefully after a bit of potential snowfall.
3/1 Skating: Range Marathon (event #2, with new loops and points system)
3/3 Classic: Specific strength and striding video
A few Masters took on the international racing scene in Canada at the Gatineau Loppet. Our neighbors to the north seem to have a bit more snow than us, and a few trips across the border have yielded good results…this week, the World Cup comes to Canada beginning on Tuesday with the Ski Tour Canada. If you have a free day these races are definitely worth checking out!
Unfortunately, the rain has forced the cancellation of the skiing loops at the Range as they try to preserve snow. There will be no BKL practice tomorrow, 2/25. The BKL Festival is still reporting that they are a GO thanks to snowmaking and effective snow dances! Keep up with the latest news on the Festival by visiting the NENSA website frequently!
