BK and Masters this week

BK and Masters skiing will resume at the range this week at our normal schedule.  Hard to believe but enough snow survived to keep a 2 km loop open. Temps will remain above freezing for the next couple of days.  The course was groomed today but will not be touched again until temps drop and stay below freezing.

1/14 – TUESDAY

Penguins and Jackrabbits – 3:30 – 5:00 skate ski.

BK Racing – Classic Skiing – Bring waxless if you have them. If not and you have klister apply SWIX KR70 or TOKO Red or SWIX Universal.  If you want to go one step further apply a thin layer of KR50 (violet) let cool and then apply the KR 70 over top. This can also be done with TOKO. Remember to keep they layers thin and make the kick zone a little shorter than with hard wax.  Nothing behind the heel. Coaches will have some klister at the Walker Building too.

TOKO VIDEO – applying Klister: http://www.toko.ch/en/usage/application-videos/cross-country-skis

Masters – Classic too.  Waxless or Klister.  Coaches will help if you need it but don’t be afraid to try applying some before you arrive. See the video link above.

Junior Photos and Cool Ice Skiing Video

The weather has been crazy and a little depressing, but we had an awesome time skiing at the Range this past Tuesday. See the pic and video below of the skating rink that formed in the shooting area! Thursday we skied at Sleepy Hollow along with about 10,000 other athletes on a 1km loop of icy manmade. Not ideal but it was a good opportunity to have the Juniors interact with the older BKL skiers and have some fun with relays and doing the “mirror drill” in which pairs of skiers try to emulate each other’s technique. Today a small crew made the trek up to Craftsbury for a ski on the manmade loop. They have great coverage still on the manmade loop and they even had like 1″ of new snow this AM.

You have to click on the link that says “Ice Ski Video” to see the video. Very cool!!!
