REQUIRED HOMEWORK:

I’d like for all athletes to read the following short interview from FasterSkier regarding the recent U16 National Camp. For 5 years now, the top U16 athletes in the country (based on results at Junior Nationals) are invited to attend a summer camp with US Ski Team coaches and other top coaches from around the country. We’ve had boys at the last 4 camps (Ben Hegman 2011, 2012; Bill and Henry Harmeyer 2013, Forrest Hamilton 2014). Especially important is the answer to question #4 including what message the coaches are trying to send the as well as a list of behavioral traits that seem to affect an athlete’s success.

It’s worth reading and reflecting upon that list: do you love it? Do you own it? Are you working to improve many of the physical components of being an athlete? What about the behavioral components: Are you willing to learn? Are you open to change? Positive spirit?

It’s Winter in Argentina

JUMP STARTING THE SKI SEASON

While most of us have been enjoying the summer weather a few Vermonters headed to the southern hemisphere for some skiing in Argentina. Camilla skied with MNC and Craftsbury last winter while staying with the Massey-Bierman’s.  This summer she and her family invited the Massey-Biermans to spend some time in Argentina where it currently is winter.  Reports of excellent skiing and wonderful people have been coming in.
