DESCRIPTION:MNC is proud to announce a summer training camp opportunity in collaboration with the Hudson United Racing Team! “HURT” Camp is a long-running and popular summer training camp for skiers from across New York\, and this year Mansfield Nordic is looking to add skiers from the Green Mountains to the mix! \nThe goal of this camp is “to bring High School aged athletes across the region together to improve the level of nordic racing in the winter.” Though some rollerski experience is needed\, athletes at this camp range in ability from skiers new to the sport looking to move up the high school ranks to athletes who have been in the top 10 at Junior Nationals and the J2/Eastern High School Championships. \nCoach Terko will join top coaches Dave Paarlberg-Kvaam (HURT Nordic coach)\, Callie Duglass (Colchester/VT Eastern High School Champs trip leader) and Bob Underwood (Queensbury High School coach) in leading rollerski sessions\, trail runs\, strength workouts and even an uphill mountain timetrial! \nFor MNC juniors attending this camp\, coach Adam will have a van rented and will depart from the Shelburne United Methodist Church parking lot at 9AM on Saturday\, July 18th. \nFor more detailed information and registration documents\, please visit the HURT Nordic website and camp info page: HURT Camp 2015 \nCamp registration includes all lodging\, travel\, food and coaching costs. \nPhotos and recap from 2014 edition: HURT Camp 2014 recap

SUMMARY:1st Annual(?) Reverse Stowe Derby
DESCRIPTION:Saturday will be the first (annual?) Reverse Stowe Derby! This is a joint workout with Craftsbury and VTXC. We will be joined by Craftsbury coach Anna Schultz (hey\, she sounds familiar!) and Rick Costanza (hey\, he sounds familiar!) for a skate rollerski from downtown Stowe up the bike path to the base of the Toll Rd. From there we will switch to running gear en route to the top of Mt Mansfield! On the run down we can jump in the Bingham Falls swimming hole before a picnic along the park-side bike path! \nAny MNC summer participants (both 2- and 5-day members)\, BKL skiers and Masters are welcome and encouraged to join in – for those that have not rollerskied yet there will be a ‘hike-only’ group. The plan right now is to gather at the Stowe Community Church at 8:30am for rollerski group\, and the base of the Toll Rd at 9:30am for the hike-only group. We hope participants can bring a dish to share at the picnic afterward! \nThe Reverse Stowe Derby caps off 2 volume weeks in a row\, a big push for great summer training!

SUMMARY:First Day Junior Summer Training
DESCRIPTION:For many years the Mansfield Nordic summer programs have been the bread-and-butter of the club. This summer our options for great training are similar to the programs of years past\, with scheduling and pricing much the same.  In addition\, a limited amount of roller ski rentals are available.  \nThe 2-day/week Intro program will be focused on athletes new to rollerskiing\, with sessions at the car-free paved loop at the Ethan Allen Firing Range. Athletes in this program will develop skills like balance\, agility and safe handling of rollerskis\, and have the opportunity to work with experienced coaches. Practices will not be entirely rollerski focused\, however\, and there will be ample opportunity to also train alongside Comp Team athletes and take part in runs\, drills\, games and strength-building. \nThe 5-day/week Comp program will be focused on high-level training for more experienced rollerskiers and athletes with strong training backgrounds. Workouts will take place alongside the Intro team at the Range on Tues/Thurs\, and across Chittenden County and beyond during other days.  This group will build a strong fitness base through intervals\, long-distance workouts\, strength sessions and cross-training opportunities.  \nFor experienced rollerskiers\, we have also connected with the Ethan Allen Biathlon club to have Range access on Tues/Thurs afternoons as well as mornings to accommodate skiers with work or travel constraints (note that coach Terko will likely be the only coach at these sessions\, therefore it is limited to experienced rollerskiers pending further coaching additions!).

This yardsale will take place at the Longenbach house on June 6th as part of a larger\, community-wide sale in Williston’s Southridge neighborhood. \nMNC families may donate goods to sell on Friday afternoon from 4pm to 7pm. Items will be sorted and priced for sale the next day\, and all proceeds will go toward the club! This Tuesday (2/10) Jennie will do a “celebrity guest” coaching appearance and lead a brief — but awesome — gals-only ski at the Range. \n\nWe’ll kick things off at 4:45pm with a quick intro and then Jennie will take the gals out on a fast ‘n fun ski with a focus on gaining some confidence on hills and corners. \n\nWe’ve arranged this opportunity to be late in the afternoon so that high school skiers can participate. Mountain Top is the originator of Paintball Biathlon and have a spectator friendly site to host this exciting event. This event is open to all ages and includes a 10th Annual Commemorative Buff! Sign up here before January 30th and try your hand at Biathlon. \nRACE UPDATE: \nWe will be offering both the BKL division\, which begins at 11:00 AM (with lollipoppers) and as the BKLers finish around 2 pm\, we will get started with the High School and Adult Division beginning at 2:30 PM. \nThe online registration cost is $20\, which includes a 10th Annual BUFF.  Day of race is $30. \nObviously\, we are encouraging early registration ; )) \nSNOW conditions… natural snow has been falling over the last few days allowing us to open 5 km of skiing and the snow guns have been in action every day since winter temps decided to return!  IF another January thaw decides to ‘bless’ us\, we are not concerned… the Biathlon race course is completely secured with manmade snow… so plan on it  ; ))
