SUMMARY:Cochran's MNC Trivia Night!
DESCRIPTION:What is the event? \nThe event is a dinner and goofy trivia night\, with themes and questions designed for all ages and categories…not just skiing! \nWhere/When is the event? \nThe event is at the Cochran Ski Lodge\, 910 Cochran Road\, Richmond\, VT. Dinner begins at 6pm\, with trivia beginning at 7:30. MNC members will provide potluck appetizers and deserts\, and the club will be grilling burgers and hot dogs. \nThe club will also be providing non-alcoholic drinks. The event is BYOB for alcoholic beverages\, but there will be a keg of local beer available for a $4 donation to our van. \nHow can I participate? \nWe are asking MNC members to be a captain and form their own teams of six people that would be part of your goofy trivia team.  Ideally\, each team of six would have some non-MNC members (eg. friends\, family\, etc.).  Each team member pays to participate.  Adults pay $20.00\, children pay $10.00.  As the team captain\, you collect money from your team and then register your team through the MNC website.  As a captain\, you are also asked to come up with a theme for your team and represent that theme.  Prizes will be awarded to the team or teams with the best theme.  Prizes will also be awarded to the top trivia teams. \nHow should I market this event to my friends and family? \nAsk your friends and family if they would be interested in participating in a fund raiser where they get dinner\, music\, and play goofy trivia as a team.  The goofy trivia is a team activity; it is not individual.  During goofy trivia\, teams have time to discuss what they think is the correct answer and provide one answer that represents the entire team.  It should be a night of good food and good laughs. \nHow soon should I get my team registered? \nWe are asking all teams are registered by Thursday\, October 24th. \nA signup form can be found HERE\nSee you at Cochrans! \n \n

SUMMARY:Lake Placid Loppet
DESCRIPTION:Lake Placid Loppet\nThe Lake Placid Loppet is one of the best events of its kind in the country. Over the past 30 years\, thousands of skiers have enjoyed skiing and racing on the challenging Mt. Van Hoevenberg trails at the Olympic Sports Complex. The Lake Placid Loppet is conducted by the Olympic Regional Development Authority on the Olympic Sports Complex Cross Country Ski Trails. The Loppet and Kort-Loppet run on a slightly modified version of the 50km course constructed for the 1980 Winter Olympics\, making it one of the most challenging citizen races in the world. This is a perfect race for recreational to expert skiers who are looking for a unique and challenging race. The Lake Placid Loppet is also proud to be a qualifier for the American Birkebeiner and a member of the NENSA Marathon Series. Included with your Loppet entry fee is the Celebration BBQ & Awards on Saturday evening following the races at Mt. Van Hoevenberg. Everyone who crosses the finish line will receive a finisher gift pint glass with one free beer or soda. There will also be complimentary post-race food. \nRace Details\nRace start and finish is in the Cross Country Stadium. Warming areas\, wax rooms\, restrooms and post-race refreshments will be available in the Cross Country Lodge. Nordic ski patrol will be on the course at all feeding stations and additional locations. Please report injured skiers at the next feed station or to the first race official encountered. There is a complete first aid room at the Cross Country Lodge. Feeding stations are located every 5km\, providing beverages and high energy foods. We look forward to seeing you at this wonderful and historic race!

SUMMARY:MNC New England Club Relay Championship
DESCRIPTION:New England Club Relay Championship 4 x 5 km\n*NENSA Club Cup Series Event*\n\nThe third annual New England Club Relay Championship will wrap up the 2019 Club Cup scoring. \nThe NE Club Relay Championship\, hosted by Mansfield Nordic Club\, attracts skiers of all ages and abilities and is perfect way to involve all club members in a fun and exciting event. The race format will be four legs of 5km (2 CL and then 2 FS). Each 4 person team will be in one of two age group categories. (Under 200 years of combined age or 200 years and over) Teams must be all male\, all female\, or mixed with at least two women. There are no gender or age limits on BKL teams. Each official team must be from the same NENSA Club/team. Unofficial teams (unofficial: not from the same club/team) may enter as well\, but will not score for the official club championship award. This event will be scored for the 2018/19 NENSA Club points. Team awards will be presented to the top Male Team\, Female Team\, and Mixed Team for the two age groups. We will also have a BKL award for top team with no designation for male\, female\, or mixed teams. Clubs may enter as many teams as possible and club points will be scored using the sum of world cup points scored by each team for each club. For example: First place team in each category receives 100 pts down to 30th place team and beyond will receive one point. \nRegistration:\nRegistration will be at: https://www.SkiReg.com/new-england-club-relay-championship \n$100 per team online or $125 per team on race day. BKL skiers can register for $60 per team online or $75 per team day of race. Online registration closes on Friday\, March 8 at 11:59pm. Washington Auto Road. Long referred to as “North America’s Toughest 10K”\, the Ski\, Shoe & Fatbike to the Clouds course has an average grade of 12% over the last 6K as you climb the final 2\,200 vertical feet. While there will be competitors who are seeking to make or break a record\, for others it is the ultimate way to personally test themselves in one of nature’s most spectacular environments.After covering 4k on the Nordic system\, racers will have the Mt. Washington Auto Road to themselves as remarkable views of the Presidential Range and beyond reveal themselves. DESCRIPTION:Take a “Glide on the Wild Side” and come to Rikert Touring Center in Ripton\, VT for the NE BKL Fest: a kids’s ski festival!\n\nThis event is so much fun and this year\, it’s not too far away! MNC always has a good crowd of kids at every Festival and they have so much fun racing and playing on skis together!  There are races each day (first day relay\, second day individual) and a whole lot more- face painting\, animal trail in the woods\, a family mini-marathon\, a terrain park\, 8th grade graduation\, and an opening parade. DESCRIPTION:A new addition to the cross country citizen racing scene in New England.  In the early afternoon after the Frost Mountain Nordic Eastern Cup there will be a separate mass start classic event utilizing the Rikert Nordic Center trails.  This unseeded race opportunity is perfect for youth\, coaches\, and citizen racers of all ages.  Compare your time the the Eastern Cup racers – Enjoy a mass start ski race – Have fun!  Masters racers will be scored for Zak and all skiers U16 and up are scored for Club Cup. \nA US Ski & Snowboard membership is not required for this race.  The race is $20 for NENSA members and $30 for non-members competing with a one-day membership. \nAdult skiers 10km to be scored to Zak Cup.

DESCRIPTION:SUMMARY SCHEDULE\nFriday\, February 15th\nRegistration starting at 5 p.m.\n \nSaturday\, February 16th – CLASSIC TECHNIQUE / FATBIKE DAY\n51km –  27km -15km – 5km Cross-country ski races\n40km – 20km – 10km Fatbike races \nSunday\, February 17th – FREE TECHNIQUE / SNOWSHOES DAY\n51km – 27km – 10km – mini 2km Cross-country ski races\n10km – 5km – 2km Snowshoes races \nADDITIONNAL INFORMATION\nCHIP: Skiers MUST wear their Chip on their right ankle. Any skier without their Chip or with the wrong chip will be automatically disqualified given that it will then be impossible to accurately track them on the course. \nBIB: Skiers MUST wear their bib chest-level at the front.  Skiers taking part in the A and B wave of the 51 km race\, must also wear a bib on their back. Any skier without their bib\, who wears it incorrectly or with the wrong bib (e.g. wearing the Sunday bib on Saturday)\, will be automatically disqualified given that it will then be impossible to accurately track them on the course.  The color of the bin corresponds to the sign colours on the course. Skiers must keep their bib and show it to the volunteers at the “Sac des skieurs” area\, to recover their clothes and get their Post-Race Meal. \nFEEDING STATIONS: In addition to the one at the finish line\, there will be six feeding stations along the course on Saturday and Sunday.  Each of them will provide an assortment of food and beverages. \nBROKEN POLES: A limited number of poles will be provided at certain feeding stations (Start\, Lac Philippe\, Herridge\, Notch and Keogan) for skiers who break theirs. \nTIME LIMIT FOR THE 51 KM RACES: For reasons of health and safety\, on Saturday\, the skieurs of the 51km event who have not crossed the 30km mark (O’Brien/P11) before 1 p.m. (approximately 7.5km/hour) and on Sunday in the 51km event who have not crossed the 30km mark (O’Brien/P11) before 12:30 p.m. (approximately 8.5km/hour)\, will not be allowed to continue to race. \nPOST-RACE MEAL: To get your post-race meal\, show your bib in the cafeteria. A meal is provided to skieurs of the 5km\, 10km\, 15km\, 27km and 51 km. Racers with Lycra bib will receive a food coupon. The meal is served between 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday\, and between 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday. It is also available to non-participants for $7 (cash only). \nSWIX WAX CLINICS: Swix will give waxing clinics on the big stage\, Friday\, February 15th at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Saturday\, February 16th at 3:30 p.m. \nRECOGNITION PROGRAM: Skiers who have taken part in 5\, 10\, 15\, 20\, 25 and 30 races will receive a pin indicating the number of times they took part in the events.  Starting on the Friday evening\, the pins will be available at the Ski Show\, at the medals table.  Skiers must be registered for at least one race in 2018 in order to get a pin. \nELITE PROGRAM: In order to attract elite skiers\, a limited number of hotel rooms have been reserved for Friday and Saturday evening for men and women  Elite skiers taking part to the 51km free technique\, which have a real chance of podium. To apply\, skiers must submit results for national races 30km and over and their licence number (CCC\, FIC or other). Interested skiers must apply before January 25\, 2018 at info@gatineauloppet.com \nNEW RULES: Concerning pole length\, the new rules (ICR Cross-Country 2016\, 343.8.1 and 343.12.1) for classic technique\, will be in effect during the Gatineau Loppet as required by FIS. See here \nGATINEAU LOPPET CHALLENGE: This challenge is for all skieurs which complete:\n– Gold: two long races\n– Silver: one medium and one long races\n– Bronze: two medium races \nLong race: 45 km and more\nMedium race: between 25 km and 44 km \nSkiers who take on this challenge will receive a pin and a certificate authenticating their feat at the Registration Desk on Sunday. \nSKI WAXING AND SNOW CONDITIONS: Waxing is forbidden inside the location area\, except in the indicated location.  The Waxing area is located outside.  Information concerning snow conditions will be displayed on the giant screen at the Ski show. \nAWARD CEREMONIES: The medal awards ceremony will take place at the Ski show on Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m.  The schedule is subject to change.  Skiers must be on hand to receive their prizes or awards.  Prizes will be given out once the results are official.  All awards\, pins and prizes must be claimed during the weekend.  The results will be posted in the XC Ski Show and on the Web (www.gatineauloppet.com). \nWORLDLOPPET PASSEPORT priced at $60. \nBUS SERVICE: Daily bus passes are on sale at the information booth at a cost of $3.05\, while shuttle transportation free from the official hotels of the Gatineau Loppet and the location area (to be confirmed).

Hope you’ll join us! \nImportant Dates for the Marathon \n\nSunday\, Oct. 14 – Online registration opens.\nMonday\, Jan. 1 – Marathon price increases to $85.\nTuesday\, Jan. 29 – Online Registration closes for the Marathon Ski Festival.\nSaturday\, Feb. 2 – 38th Annual Craftsbury Marathon\, 33k & 50k classic races (16k available for VPA high school and BKL skiers/chaperones). Post-race meal\, and awards.\nSunday\, Feb. 3 – Inaugural 16k & 33k Craftsbury Freestyle Marathon. Post-race awards. Food available for purchase at the Touring Center Cafe.\n\nThe 50k and 33k classic and 33k and 16k freestyle races races offer competitors a mass start\, timed challenge over a beautiful\, PistenBully groomed courses. Feed stations dot the route every 4 to 7 kilometers. After the finish\, all participants are treated to a hearty post race meal and awards.  Register now. \nFor Zak Cup racers\, the NENSA masters committee has decided that this year’s 50k CLASSIC will be the Zak Cup points race for racers in the M1-M6 age classes. M7 and up will be scored off results in the 33k CLASSIC. \nBKL skiers must be accompanied by a chaperone. That chaperone can register in the BKL race category and must ski the race with or behind their child. \nDay of race registration will be available in the Activity Center starting at 7:00AM. Price will be $100 for ages 15 & up\, $25 for ages 14 and below.  \nNote: raffle prizes will only be awarded to pre-registered racers. Day of race registrants will not be eligible for raffle prizes (so register ahead of time!).
