SUMMARY:1st Annual(?) Reverse Stowe Derby
DESCRIPTION:Saturday will be the first (annual?) Reverse Stowe Derby! This is a joint workout with Craftsbury and VTXC. We will be joined by Craftsbury coach Anna Schultz (hey\, she sounds familiar!) and Rick Costanza (hey\, he sounds familiar!) for a skate rollerski from downtown Stowe up the bike path to the base of the Toll Rd. From there we will switch to running gear en route to the top of Mt Mansfield! On the run down we can jump in the Bingham Falls swimming hole before a picnic along the park-side bike path! \nAny MNC summer participants (both 2- and 5-day members)\, BKL skiers and Masters are welcome and encouraged to join in – for those that have not rollerskied yet there will be a ‘hike-only’ group. The plan right now is to gather at the Stowe Community Church at 8:30am for rollerski group\, and the base of the Toll Rd at 9:30am for the hike-only group. We hope participants can bring a dish to share at the picnic afterward! \nThe Reverse Stowe Derby caps off 2 volume weeks in a row\, a big push for great summer training!

You must compete in both official races only in order to score for the U.S. Masters Team competition (best overall in your age group in 2 of 2 races). Race #1 is a 10 km freestyle technique wave start event starting at 2:30 PM\, Thursday afternoon on the 29th of January. Registration for race # 2 of the Championships is available at www.skireg.com/25or50km. Race # 2 is the Craftsbury Marathon\, a classical technique 25 or 50 km wave start race scheduled for January 31\, 2015 at 9:00 AM.

DESCRIPTION:Ladies\, are you looking for a supportive environment to try out nordic skiing? Or\, possibly\, looking for advice to help you master traditional classic or skate technique? If so\, please mark your calendars and join us for the Annual Ladies Nordic Ski Expo on Saturday\, January 10th\, 2015 at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe\, Vermont. This is an amazingly fun and social event taught by women for women. The Ladies Nordic Ski Expo is unique in that it offers an opportunity to receive instruction in the traditional skinny-ski track disciplines of both classic and skate skiing as well as backcountry and telemark techniques. Participants are able to pick and choose the type or types of instruction they want to receive during this day long event. Instructors for the event are the best of the best and include some of the world’s top master skiers. We promise you will receive lots of attention as we strive to keep the student to instructor ratio low in order to maximize learning opportunities. The Trapp Family Lodge\, with its great access to backcountry and telemark terrain\, and exceptional facilities and views is the perfect classroom. Also\, they have snow-making so we can pretty much guarantee that the conditions will be perfect!
