SUMMARY:Open Session: Ski-Walking and Bounding at Honey Hollow
DESCRIPTION:All MNC members (BKL\, Juniors\, Masters) are welcome to join in with some of the Junior team on Saturday\, August 27th\, for some ski walking and bounding on the beautiful Honey Hollow road in Richmond! \nWe will meet at the new Long Trail parking lot\, on Rt 2 between Bolton and Richmond\, at 9AM. Our route will take us over the new Long Trail bridge and over to Honey Hollow\, about 1 mile of easy running. We’ll do some more dynamic and mobility warmups before some technique review and repeats up the long hilly road. \nLINK TO GOOGLE MAP OF PARKING LOT \nIf you have them\, it’s a great idea to bring along short ski walking or bounding poles: ideally poles which come up to your elbow or slightly above! \nThe nearby Winooski River offers some nice swimming opportunities for after the session\, so bring along a towel if that’s something you’re interested in. Get ready for 4 days and 3 nights of great training in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Expect epic mountain runs\, sendy mountain biking\, and rollerskiing in the shadow of some of New England’s biggest peaks. \nOur lodging for this training event will be the Supple family camp right off Rt 2 in Jefferson\, NH. Be ready to sleep on the floor (camping mats encouraged!). DESCRIPTION:A tradition continues: a bike ride up to the top of App Gap or a hike up Camel’s Hump\, followed by a gathering at the Solow/Henry house to kick off the summer training season. \nFor the activities \nBike Ride: Meet at Hinesburg Community School at 9AM for a 9:15 (SHARP) departure. There will be a group ride to the top of App Gap and back (40 miles)\, as well as a shorter ride around the Hinesburg/Charlotte area. \nHike: Coach Adam will lead a hike up Camel’s Hump via the Burrow’s Trail. This group will meet at Brewster Pierce school in Huntington at 8:20AM for an 8:30 departure. The final races this weekend with occur at Trapps in Stowe. \nFor those new to the EC circuit\, here’s a Parent Primer on EC Racing: http://www.mansfieldnordic.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/MNCParentPrimer.pdf). \nOn Saturday (2/6)\, we will also be joined by the BK Race team who will be practicing/racing from 9am -12pm with Coach Rosemary and of course\, cheering on the U16 and U18 MNC racers. Thus\, lots of hungry mouths to feed…..so here is the link to the potluck signup: (http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0e48aba928a3f85-mansfield1). \nSATURDAY: We need a couple of families to volunteer to bring a warm\, protein filled soup or chile for lunch. (I have a large crock pot if anyone needs to borrow one and Adam will supply a generator for power).  Other families can fill in with healthy snacks/muffins\, etc. I will bring a large hot water dispenser for hot chocolate as well as coffee/cream/sugar along with the paper goods needed for the potluck (bowls\, spoons\, napkins but do bring your own travel mug\, if possible). \nSUNDAY: I can bring a large chile for lunch….maybe someone else can bring a soup? Again others can fill in with snacks and other foods. \nPlease do remember to bring your own travel mug for coffee/mochas so we can be a GREEN as possible – thanks! If there is something that you want to bring that is not on the sign up\, please let me know and I can add so that the food remains (somewhat!) coordinated. \n  \nThanks everyone for your potluck contribution – looking forward to our last EC race of the season and to watching our new rising MNC racers! \n
