DESCRIPTION:Results: Club Totals | BKL | <200 Men  | <200 Mixed BKL | >199 Men | >199 Mixed | >199 Women\nPhotos from Gary Solow HERE\nThis festive weekend of racing will kick off with the first annual New England Club Relay Championship followed by the Craftsbury Spring Fling the following day. The New England Club Relay Championship\, hosted by Mansfield Nordic Club\, will attract skiers of all ages and abilities and is perfect way to involve all club members in a fun and exciting event. \nRace Format\nRace Start Time 10AM\nThe race format will be four legs of 4km with 2 CL and 2 FS technique legs. The four person relay teams will be placed in two age group categories. Combined age of 200 years and over and combined age under 200 years. Each official team must be from the same NENSA Club/team. Unofficial teams (unofficial means not from the same club/team) may enter as well\, but will not score for the official club championship award. \nAwards from Toko will also be presented to the top Male team\, Female team\, and mixed team (made up of at least two women). We will also have a BKL award for top team with no designation for male\, female\, or mixed teams. \nClubs may enter as many teams as possible and club points will be scored using world cup point system. First place 100 pts down to 30th place one pt. \nMNC Member Looking for a Relay Team?\nOur goal is to get as many MNC teams skiing as possible.  So whether you are an experienced or first time racers there is a team for you.  Use MNC Team Sign-Up Sheet  google doc  to add your name\,  technique of choice and any other preferences. \nSeveral days before the race our Coaches will build the team and sign team captains to sign-up and register. \nGreat prizes will be on hand from Toko! \nRegistration\nIf you already have a team you can register here on SkiReg. \nVolunteers\nVolunteers are needed to registration\, tag zone and the start finish areas.  If you would like to help\, please see our volunteer Sign-Up Sheet.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 2017 HURT-athon! The Gore Mountain Ski Bowl Park is featuring a new and improved FIS homologated race course with snow making and lights and HURT nordic is proud to showcase their amazing facilities. We will be offering age group awards  for all race categories and this is a NYSSRA series points race. Plan on coming out to score some points for your home club.  The start for the juniors race\, masters women race and masters men race will be an interval start and we will do our best to seed the start list based on previous NYSSRA series race performances so that you will be near your immediate competition.  The U16/18 race will begin at 9:00 am. Following a 10 minute gap\, the Open/Masters Men field will begin\, followed by another short gap\, then the Masters Open/Women. \nDay-of registration will be $30.00 and you will not be seeded in the field.  You will be placed at the back of your respective category. \nIf you are not a NYSSRA member\, you will be expected to pay a one-day $5.00 NYSSRA racing license fee when you pick up your bib.  This fee can be included in your registration check or you can pay for it separately if you submit your payment online. \nREGISTRATION

DESCRIPTION:Why 2.5? This event is not technically a NENSA Eastern Cup\, but on Jan 21/22 NYSEF will be hosting the Harry Eldridge races in Lake Placid. Saturday’s race will count as a NENSA “Out-Of-Region” JNQ. This means that athletes will be able to score USSA points toward Junior Nationals qualification. Sunday’s race will not be scored for JN points\, but will be a great competition nonetheless. Depending on individual needs\, athletes may choose to race on Sunday as well as Saturday\, or get in a distance ski on the trails for Junior Nationals. \nThis is absolutely an event that needs to be on the radar of MNC juniors\, and it is for all intents and purposes an additional Eastern Cup race on the schedule. \nMNC has lodging available at one of the High Peaks houses (across the porch from last year’s house). DESCRIPTION:Junior skiers: we will have an opportunity to wax our skis and get them ready for the season with a heat box treatment at the Solow house on Friday\, November 18th. \nWe will gather from 4-6pm\, where waxing materials and benches will be provided. We can get all skis ready to rock with a session in the wax box\, and then continue the final stages of prep at Craftsbury camp the following week. \nWhat is a heat box?

DESCRIPTION:Save the date for this exciting MNC season kick-off event!\n\nJoin us at the Underhill Town Hall for the MNC Annual Meeting on Sunday\, November 13\, 2016. This is the second-annual event featuring a potluck meal\, raffle\, special guest speaker (UVM head nordic coach and Olympian Patrick Weaver)\, and an outdoor hash run at Mills Riverside Park. NEW this year will be a sign-up for the BKL Friday Fox program and distribution of rental equipment. The MNC Annual Meeting is an open to all interested Nordic skiing enthusiasts.\n  \n\n\n\n\nSchedule:\n2:00pm – 3:00pm: BKL Friday Fox  Ski Rental Equipment Pick-uo at the Underhill Town Hall.   (Please sign-up and reserve your skis on-line in advance at Join MNC. ) \n2:00pm – 4:00pm: Drop off food dishes for Pot Luck meal. \n3:00pm – 3:50pm: The hash run at Mills Riverside Park is a fun  event for runners/walkers of all ages and abilities. The hash is a cross-country trail set by one or two volunteers\, known as the hares. The hares lay a 2-5 mile trail with biodegradable flour. The runners and walkers\, known as the hounds\, follow this trail through the woods and fields in search of the end.\n4:00pm – 5:00pm: Pot Luck meal and MNC program presentation at the Underhill Town Hall.\n5:00pm – 6:00pm: Guest Speaker UVM head nordic coach and 2-time Olympian Patrick Weaver\, will talk about his development as a skier and what it takes to become an elite level athlete.  \n\nTo RSVP:\nIf already a member\, look soon for an email from Evite at the email you used when signing up for MNC.  If you didn’t get an Evite invitation\, you can RSVP and sign-up for the pot luck on our Evite.  Any questions please email sharonhenry5149@gmail.com. \nWhat is a Hash Run?\nA hash run is designed to engage runners of all ages and levels to follow a marked course with many options but only one correct route to finish.  A very fun event for all abilities  Or more specifically… \nAt a hash\, one or more members (“hares”) lay a trail\, which is then followed by the remainder of the group (the “pack” or “hounds”). Sawdust\, flour\, chalk\, and toilet paper are used to mark the trail. The trail periodically ends at a “check” and the pack must find where it begins again; often the trail includes false trails\, short cuts\, dead ends\, back checks\, and splits. These features are designed to keep the pack together despite differences in fitness level or running speed\, as front-runners are forced to slow down to find the “true” trail\, allowing stragglers to catch up.

SUMMARY:Open Session: Ski-Walking and Bounding at Honey Hollow
DESCRIPTION:All MNC members (BKL\, Juniors\, Masters) are welcome to join in with some of the Junior team on Saturday\, August 27th\, for some ski walking and bounding on the beautiful Honey Hollow road in Richmond! \nWe will meet at the new Long Trail parking lot\, on Rt 2 between Bolton and Richmond\, at 9AM. Our route will take us over the new Long Trail bridge and over to Honey Hollow\, about 1 mile of easy running. We’ll do some more dynamic and mobility warmups before some technique review and repeats up the long hilly road. \nLINK TO GOOGLE MAP OF PARKING LOT \nIf you have them\, it’s a great idea to bring along short ski walking or bounding poles: ideally poles which come up to your elbow or slightly above! \nThe nearby Winooski River offers some nice swimming opportunities for after the session\, so bring along a towel if that’s something you’re interested in. That’s right\, we are teaming up with our partners at Skirack to host a 5k running race on the awesome Maple Trails in Charlotte! \nThis race will be a project of the MNC Junior team who will help with trail work on the course\, marking the race loop\, designing posters\, and helping to set-up and run the event itself. \n-Details- \nWhen: Saturday\, July 9th. Racing begins at 10AM \nWhere: The awesome Maple Trails are located at 750 North Pasture Lane in Charlotte (click for map). These are the same trails the popular GMAA “Equinox” race is held on!
