SUMMARY:Wednesday Night Worlds XC Race Series @ Sleepy Hollow ^
DESCRIPTION:Skirack hosts Wednesday Night Worlds XC Race Series at Sleepy Hollow.  Races Start at 6:30pm\, and they are mass start.  Registration open from 5:30pm – 6:29pm.  $12 Entry Fee (includes night skiing trail pass).  $6 High School or Bill Koch.  $25 for race pass for all 8 races for Season Pass holders.  All types of racers are welcome – from never have raced before up through competitive racers.  Race distances are 2km\, 4km\, and 6km – you can choose at sign in time.  You also choose your technique – classic or skate.  Come on out and give it a try.  Prizes from Skirack based on number of races attended\, and awarded after the last race of the season.  Prizes provided by the Skirack in Burlington.  The race is mass start at 6:30pm.  Faster skiers should line up near the front\, and slower skiers towards the rear. \nWe also have a potluck dinner available to everyone after the race.  Bring a dish of your choice to share\, and enjoy some great company while you eat!  All racing here is designed to be fun and enjoyable from beginner skiers through faster racers.  The important thing is you come out and participate! \n\n^ MNC New Racer Friendly – Never raced before but would like to try?  These races have been identified as great places to give it a try.   Choose 2K\, 4K or 6K skate or classic.  Although high end racers attend regularly\, so do little kids and rec skiers.  It is totally non-intimidating.  Everyone gathers after each race for a potluck dinner.

DESCRIPTION:Last year on a dark winter evening\, a line of blazing tiki torches stretched from the gate of Smuggler’s Notch in Jeffersonville upward along the snowy road. With a trail illuminated by the bright flames\, MNC skiers turned a cold and snowy evening into a memorable experience…one we are looking to bring back even bigger and better this year! \nJoin us on Friday\, December 8th for the second-ever MNC Torchlight Notch Ski! We will have torches set up by nightfall. After the ski\, we invite participants to join us at the John house in Underhill for a winter gathering. \nWhat: MNC Torchlight Notch Ski \nWhere: Smuggler’s Notch\, Rt 108 in Jeffersonville\, VT. Torches will line the Jeffersonville side of the Notch\, though skiers are welcome to ski in from the Stowe side! Parking is available at the top of Rt 108 where the gate closes off the road. DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Mansfield Nordic Club Annual Meeting at the Underhill Town Hall on Sunday\, November 12\, 2017. Prior to the Annual Meeting\, MNC will offer an optional 3-5 mile hash run (details below). The Annual Meeting will begin with a potluck meal and the MNC program presentation followed by a multi-media presentation by World Master Champion\, JoAnn Hanowski   called “Skiing across Finland and Beyond”. \nThe MNC Annual Meeting is open free of charge to all interested Nordic skiing enthusiasts. Please RSVP by November 9th. \n \nRSVP  & Potluck Sign-Up Here\nSchedule:\n2;00 pm – 4:00 pm  Drop off food dishes for Potluck meal at the Underhill Town Hall in Underhill Center.\n2:30 pm – 3:50pm   Hash Run  at  70 Maple Rd\, Underhill VT(see directions below)\n4:00pm – 6:00pm: Pot Luck meal and MNC program presentation at the  Underhill Town Hall  followed by guest speaker presentation and raffle. \nWhat is a Hash Run?\nA hash run is designed to engage runners of all ages and levels to follow a marked course with many options but only one correct route to finish.  A very fun event for all abilities  Or more specifically… \nAt a hash\, one or more members (“hares”) lay a trail\, which is then followed by the remainder of the group (the “pack” or “hounds”). Sawdust\, flour\, chalk\, and toilet paper are used to mark the trail. The trail periodically ends at a “check” and the pack must find where it begins again; often the trail includes false trails\, short cuts\, dead ends\, back checks\, and splits. These features are designed to keep the pack together despite differences in fitness level or running speed\, as front-runners are forced to slow down to find the “true” trail\, allowing stragglers to catch up. \nDirections to 70 Maple Leaf Rd:\nDrive up Stevensville Rd in Underhill Center\, take a left turn at Maple Leaf Farm onto Maple Leaf Road. Continue for ¾ mile up around the sharp curve to the 1st house on the right. \n

DESCRIPTION:An introduction to biathlon for kids\, held at the Range! \nAny child ages 10 -14 is welcome to attend!  The cost is $30 (t-shirt and lunch included).   \nRegistration is open on skireg.   25 camper limit. (There are 19 spots still available) \nThe camp will run from 9:30 am (check-in) – 4 pm. It will be a day full of learning about shooting the biathlon .22 rifle\, games\, food\, and a fun race so that everyone can feel the excitement of shooting while their heart is pounding!\nThe camp will be led by USBA Eastern Regional Development Coach\, Algis Shalna and assistants.  Having coached in the United States for the last 25 years and as a Lithuanian gold medalist in Biathlon as well\, Algis radiates a passion for the sport that children pick up on immediately and feel very comfortable being taught by him.  He keeps the learning process fun and interesting\, balancing the day so the kids are always positively engaged! \nIf you would like more information\, feel free to email me or give Mary Anne Levins a call @ 802-345-1665 \n
