Masters Fall Training

About Fall Training

Our Masters fall training program is for any skier, beginner to advanced, interested in improving ski technique and ski specific fitness.  Due to our diverse set of Masters and their schedules,  this season we will be taking a different approach to program offerings.   Our only fee based training will be run by Fitness Options, with all other activities organized by volunteer coaches, members and local nordic skiing enthusiasts and requiring no fixed fee.

Details for all our all fall training training options can be found below.   We welcome all interested to come join us and ask those that join our volunteer sessions to consider a small donation to the club and  MNC membership as well.

Nordic Dryland Boot Camp Class

Fees: Dependent on class size (~$90-$110 for 8 weeks)

Mansfield Nordic has partnered with Fitness Options in South Burlington to offer Fall Dry Land Boot Camp classes to get a head start for the upcoming Nordic Season.  In this program you will improve balance, agility, range of motion and coordination while enhancing endurance, speed and strength-all while having fun.

Instead of fixed times, Fitness options has agreed to work with our members to set up classes that best fit their schedules.  So if you have a group of four or more that are interested, please email to get more information.

The Intramural Nordic Gentlemen & Women’s Weekly Roll (Wednesdays)

GOAL: Offer skiers a weekly opportunity to get out and roll with some company. Our goal is to stay motivated through the fall and have some fun. Skiers and racers from all clubs are welcome.
TIME: 5pm.
LOCATION: Meet at the first parking lot on your right off Ethan Allen Homestead Road.  Of note: this is NOT the Ethan Allen Homestead parking lot.
FORMAT: Most of us will be skating but classic is welcome. There’s no coaching. Just free skiing to get some base in for the upcoming season.
DISTANCE: Usually 10k-15k. Pace is typically laid back though we might throw in some intervals later in the fall.
TERRAIN: The trail has some nice variety. There are uphills and of course some downhills. Skiers should be comfortable in a variety of settings though most advanced intermediate rollerskiers should have no problem.
RSVP: If you’re interested let us know and we’ll shoot out occasional reminders via e-mail. There is no commitment and no need to RSVP. If you can make it great. If not no worries.
COST: Free.
QUESTIONS: Contact Steve Crafts.

Thursday Running Group

To keep fitness going until the snow flies, the Thursday running group has decided to continue through the Fall and switch from the trails to the roads.  We plan to keep it going with headlamps until the snow flies.   Runs typically last an hour, with a range of pace groups for everyone.  So come join us.

For more details on meeting location and times watch our  Masters Training Doc.  For questions or to get onto the weekly email list,  please contact Jen Supple

Weekend Roller Skiing

Tired of rolling skiing the same locations?  Want to ski and train with other like-minded Masters?  Come join our weekend Roller Ski sessions!   These sessions, lead by Coach Rick and Coach Liam, typically take place Sunday morning at various locations around the area.  Early season focus begins with light easy workouts, eventually transitioning to some interval work as well as time trials as the season approaches.

Watch our Masters Training Blog for a weekly schedule, and check out the Masters Google Doc for the most up-to-date training locations, times, and events!  For additional questions or to get on the weekly email list contact Kort Longenbach at
