About Junior Spring Training

The sweat-soaked, mud-caked, bug-infested days of summer may be the heart of the off-season training in the ski world, but spring is a critical transition time for fitness and prep for the year ahead!

For these upcoming weeks we will be looking to get used to challenging our muscles in a dryland environment, and preparing for the increased work and intensity of summer. Sessions will be a mix of running, biking, strength work and games…plus a hearty dose of some bigger, larger adventures around the area!

Schedule:  April 18 thru Jun 17

Structure:

Training is open to all Junior-level skiers (U16, U18, U20) as well as rising U16 athletes.

Tuesday (4PM) / Thursday (4PM) / Saturday (10AM unless otherwise specified). Locations in and around Chittenden County to be determined prior to each week.

Training will be posted on the Junior Team google doc, and recapped weekly on the Junior Team blog.

General outline:

Tuesdays: Distance rollerski and technique

Thursdays: Running and general strength

Saturdays: Hike, Nor-Pine, or other long distance event

Costs:

3-day/week option: $199

2-day/week option: $139

1-day/week option: $69

Details/more information:

• Weekday sessions are mostly low-key endurance activities: introducing rollerskiing for the season in May with light distance and technique work, building a base of running mileage, and focusing on general all-around strength training
• Athletes with high school sports conflicts are encouraged to communicate on the best day(s) to attend, if applicable. Tuesday rollerskiing would be a great compliment to heavy running schedule of track and field athletes!
• Saturday activities may be more time and travel-intensive but offer a chance for more unique and varied workouts like spring skiing, hiking, or maybe a combination of those activities, as well as other adventures that refresh and inspire before the more structured training of traditional over-distance workouts
